Apprentice? – no thanks

The Apprentice does make good TV, but it can also be incredibly infuriating. And that’s nothing to do with Sir/Lord/Your Highness, Alan Sugar and his bearded face; it’s more to do with those horrendous people who apply to be his next apprentice.

I know that sales are really important for any business, but why is it that all (and yes, I am prepared to generalise) sales people are absolutely insufferable.

Arrogant and cocky are two words that don’t even come close to describing these people who take on, what is essentially, a role that doesn’t require any skill whatsoever.

It may be a good programme, but I still can’t bear to watch these people claiming to be something they’re not. Sorry Alan.

Not all plain sailing for the Beckhams

Remember how Richard and Judy used to argue live on air? Well now it seems that the Beckhams are at it. The couple were appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show in America when an argument erupted over a comment made by David.

David told the host that Victoria was not as tidy as him and an argument started between the two in front of a live audience.

Victoria replied to the comment by saying:

‘He always says that he is tidy, but you’re not actually that tidy are you David.’

The couple joked that they were having their first argument in eleven years in front of TV cameras.

Disappointing Cheryl Cole interview

According to reports, more than seven million viewers watched the recent Piers Morgan interview with Cheryl Cole but were they left disappointed?

With so many issues and scandals to go at, it was strange the Piers seemed to let Cheryl get away with hardly revealing anything at all. She wasn’t tackled about the infamous attack on the toilet attendant and she seemed to avoid interrogation about her relationship with Ashley Cole. It also seemed that rumoured love interests were completely off the agenda too.

She talked a little bit about her malaria illness, but Piers seemed to back down every time she put the barrier up even a little bit.

This was disappointing considering his reputation of grilling celebs – after all, that’s really the whole point of the programme. But perhaps Queen Cheryl is above all of that?

2011 TV calendars hit the shops

It’s that time of year again when the celebs are out in force releasing calendars in time for New Year. Celebrity calendars are a staple of the Christmas season because celebs and their people don’t like to miss any opportunity to sell merchandise. This time of year is the only time of year when calendars sell with any kind of significant, so it’s no surprise to see loads of new ones hitting the shelves.

Celebs have long released calendars on their own, but you might not actually be all that interested in any one celeb, in which case it may be worth seeing if you can get your hands on one of the calendars released by some of the most famous TV shows on the box.

Top Gear, Planet Earth, Merlin and loads of other family shows have 2011 calendars on the market as they seek to make the most of their popularity. Or, for something a little racier, the girls and guys from Hollyoaks always get their kit off for a calendar to please soap fans all over the UK.

If you’re happy with keeping your TV habits confined to the lounge, then it may be worth shopping for calendars that are a little less celeb-orientated this year. You could design one yourself or make one out of pictures of your family.

Exciting soap TV this Christmas

It’s that time of year when soaps are starting to build their storylines up to Christmas. Soap fans across the country are already trying to work out what the big story lines are likely to be this Christmas. Will Stacey finally come out as Archie’s murderer?

Well, we’ll all have to wait until we are huddled round the television on Christmas day with our turkey sandwiches and mulled wine to find out. But in the meantime, it does mean that there are some cracking storylines happening in soap land at the moment. With Billie’s death haunting Albert Square and David facing a prison sentence in Coronation Street, the script writers are definitely getting us in the mood for some big story lines this Christmas.
